Staying Alive

Anyone know CPR?

Inching my way back from the light.

Barely (it’s so warm and tingly, here).
And there’s a much needed vacation, soon.

But no promises.

    makethelogobigger isn’t really correct.

The protocol changes every year based on your level of certification, and whether you are working on infants, children, or adults.

In the field we frequently go 5:1, however, pacing and rhythm go out the door once you have an ET and BVM installed on the pt, simply because there are going to be interruptions and periods where CPR is effectively interrupted so that other interventions can be performed, such as drug therapy, preparing the pt. for transport, etc.

Anyway, who am I to correct you? I’m still hunting for my first save, and I’ve been doing this professionally for ten years.

Crappiest incident: 3-week-old infant. Mama is just screaming at the top of her lungs. Dad has the phone with 911 in one hand, trying to do chest compressions with the other. That really, really sucked. Second drappiest incident: next door neighbor.

Anyway, sorry to ruin the phun, but this is one of those things that people can do to give us a shot at saving a loved one, so it’s important to get it right, even if we fail much more often than we succeed.
