A Nut-crushing Update Hijacking the Posse

Under the Mistletoe

Sit down, brace yourself, or do what it is you would otherwise do when you’re about to receive shocking news.

Ready? Good.

Psssst. The Holidays are upon us.

Awww. C’mon. Think that was a letdown? Well, let me make it up to you.

This Holiday Greetings video was emailed to me today and it’s too good to be left languishing under the tree in my in-box, so enjoy. It’s a 2005 effort from TBWA\Vancouver.

Only the Canadians! Or the British! Or the Italians! Basically, anyone, but anyone in the US. That was fabulous.

Toss the IPG holiday greetings video into the mix. We’ll all vote and make it a friendly competition. The winner gets eggnog; the loser, fruitcake. ;)

would have been more accurate if it panned down to reveal a lineup of clients with their asses getting kissed

    HA!

Wow! Never saw that before. Kind of like fake rubber vomit. I’m over it and also underwhelmed that it could not be more rewarding in the end.

RB? SR? What’s up with you IPG folks using two-letter names? (And worse– all lower case, e e cummings-style.) I say the offer still stands. Toss the IPG holiday video my way and I’ll put it up and let the people vote. Winner, eggnog; loser, fruitcake. :D

That was more retarded than Corky.

Still its good to see another agency is as dirty as us…nice work!

You did see the TBWA\Vancouver work was from 2005, right? Who’s zooming whom?

Points given for the fearlessness of the virals whose links you provided. Points subtracted for their lack of subtlety or any hint of misdirection.

  • 13. steven hirst  |  December 3rd, 2006 at 7:29 pm

Lack of subtlety and lack of any hint of misdirection is what works best virally - over 1.5 million views for those virals last yr. Having said that, the dog one crashed and burned, so hope yours finds a more receptive audience. If yours gets some good views (say 400,000) we will start adding more misdirection to our work

By the way, our dog ball footage was taken from a viral we did in 2002 for a beer brand! We were doing dogsballs ads while you were still in nappies.

Dude. It’s TBWA’s work. You’ve really got to start reading copy.

  • 15. Geoffrey Fry  |  December 3rd, 2006 at 10:10 pm

Great idea but “happy holidays??”. It is about Christmas guys. Get some balls and say “Merry Christmas”

  • 16. Mack Simpson  |  December 3rd, 2006 at 10:28 pm

“The War on Christmas” (when did the shooting start?) even has its own Wikipedia page now.

Since the spot was about mistletoe customs, perhaps calling it “Yule” would have been more appropriate than even “Christmas.”

Yeah. Whatever. Call it what you want. ;)

  • 17. Magno  |  December 4th, 2006 at 7:00 pm

Laughed inappropriately at my desk (the guffaw that makes co-workers come check on you…) and makes me fear that my company’s video greeting will not be as funny (intentionally anyway…)

How can I help in the war on Christmas? Can I purchase War on Christmas bonds? Tell me Mack - how can I have an impact on this phony war?
