Long Day, Early Morning
Long day in the ad jungle completing a signature piece for tomorrow’s big pow-wow in Chicago.
We crawled into the studio at 9:00 A.M and out of it at 8:00 P.M. (and I’ll need to be at the airport tomorrow at 7:45).
Tomorrow’s meeting is what’s called an “equity summit,” and involves all the agencies that touch the Gatorade business. We’ll each show off the family jewels (the work we’ve produced over the previous twelve months) to one another and then cozy up to debate and discuss the future of the brand.
All arguments will be settled with a round of sports drink-powered Indian leg wrestling.
Later in the evening we’ll all gather around the nearest bar to see if we can tempt one another into slipping inside scoop into the conversation after plying our mirror selves at the other agency with a few shots of tequila.
Ah, agency life.

Man, this time last year I was reclining on Hayman Island in the Whitsundays thanks to my work… and now I’m not. Damn.
